National Road Transport Associations (NRTAs)
The National Road Transport Associations (NRTAs) are the associations forming the core membership of FESARTA.
FESARTA's sphere of operations is in 16 countries in East and Southern Africa, viz: Angola, Botswana, Burundi, DRC, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The listing of the NRTAs in the countries are:

|Tanzania:||Tanzania Truck Owners Association (TATOA)|
|Uganda:||Uganda Commercial Truck Owners Association (UCTOA)|
|Zambia:||Truckers Association of Zambia|
|Zimbabwe:||Transport Operators Association of Zimbabwe (TOAZ)|
The NRTAs vary considerably in strength:
- The RFA (South Africa) has a large and strong association.
- KTA (Kenya), RTOA (Malawi), FEMATRO (Mozambique), NLA (Namibia), TATOA (Tanzania), TAZ (Zambia) and TOA (Zimbabwe), have associations which are financially sustainable to varying degrees and are representative of the transporters in those countries.
- BHA (Botswana), ATI (Burundi), ATIK (DRC), RTA (Rwanda), SRFA (Swaziland) and UCTOA (Uganda) have associations which are really represented by a person working in a transport company. They may have been in place for many years and have credibility with their governments, but are not financially sustainable.
- There are no associations in Angola and Lesotho.
FESARTA works through the associations when dealing with road transport issues in a country.
